My shield dual-weilder has a decent number of kills, although not as high as my axe legend.Īlso, how effective is having a "guru" in speeding up training? How different is it to have an opponent with 100 fighting attacking you, rather than 20? Is it really that much more effective a weapon? I honestly see as many kills with wood shields crushing their hearts as axe wounds. I've had a lot of luck with an axe-and-shield squad, rather than axe-and-hammer. I find that once your soldiers have100+ in their weapons enemies go down fairly quickly and more squads aren't as necessary.Īlso, any time a squad is not training they are doing horitculture to raise their nimblenss. I train the new gnomes until they too have 100 in dodge and then bring them into regular training, where they also get fast experience due to my regular miltaries high skill.Īs for squads, I go 1 squad of 5 dual wield axes and hammersand frenzy, 1 squad of 5 crossbow users with sharphooter, and 1 squad of 5 tower shield users with shield wall or guard( not taunt as the focus from late game wave of enemies can be devastating even to full steel eqiupment.)Īfter that I might try to add a sword/shield squad, but its not high on my list. I usually decide which gnomads will be military and send them off to train with the gurus ( who by at least year three have 100 fighting and dodge). I usually keep two wotg masters even into late game just for training purposes (they aren't allowed to fight), as the rise of dodge and fighting is a huge benefit to any military gnome. I don't need a 'militia' as if my defences should be breeched I am basically dead anyway and I am very careful with my miners. Originally posted by =:I don't bother with WotG once I have weapon production up and running, I prefer my first squad to begin weapon trainin as soon as possible. Not only do i have a mean and grim fighting force, that is constantly honing their skills, but also every single one of my citizen is trained some to the level of masters, in the Way of the Gnome :) The Civilians are also organized in Militia squads, training WotG once a day.Īnd yes, it does slow down the overall production speed to have some gnomes stop working and go training, but it worth having a Kungfu population. My population is divided between civilians and Soldiers, with the Soldiers having only the purpose to train and kill monsters. At this point my WotG guys will be firmly a training squad that puts any new Gnomad that arrives through the ringer until they are good enough fighters to decide what their future in my kingdom will be. and the best shooter one gets 'Aim for the Eyes'.įurther down the line, the first squad is split into distinctive squads of Tanks and Damage Dealer. The two best WotG in this squad will be outfitted as Swashbucklers. They will be ordered to keep away from the enemy and are fully outfitted with leather armor and a bone helmet (totally a spleen of mine), 2 are Markgnome. ShieldwallĪt this point i'll have a second squad, with Firing Squad (and the associated Perk) And one Gnome wearing a Sword, leather armor and has the sneaky perk. And one gnomes that either get a THW with Highlander or a dual wield with Berserk (depending on my mood). Then i have 2 Gnomes with armor and shield and ohw with Guard skill. The Squadleader gets the best armor, a shield and a ohw, his perk is Taunt. ![]() Their Squads method will be: The best defense.Īs time moves on, i eventually have to put them into plate, so after they (and every member of my kingdom) is sufficently trained and has mastered WotG, i assign them to their new roles. This squad usually exists well into the late game, with the WotG becoming the training squad and the Fullplate Armor going on to be the main defense.
